In the July 17th edition of Hisstanks's Q&A with Hasbro a Mighty Muggs question was thrown in and answered. Here's the lowdown:

Q: In the last G.I. Joe Q & A session it was stated that the wave 3 Mighty Muggs would be out before the movie. That doesn't appear to have happened. Were these shelved altogether or delayed to a later date?

A:The Wave 3 figures were produced, shipped, and should be making their way out to retail in the next month. In the future, Mighty Muggs will only be available at select retailers.

So even though the last wave of GI Joe Mighty Muggs didn't fare well at Retailers, looks like a wave 3 might still make it to stores after all. Keep your eyes peeled!

Starwars.com is currently running an article on an upcoming event at this years San Diego Comic Con dubbed The Empire Muggs Back. In a nutshell, Hasbro has graciously donated blank Mighty Muggs to artist, comic book creators, toy designers to creat their very own custom Mighty Mugg creations and the results will be auctioned off by The Make-A-Wish Foundation. If you are attending SDCC this year make sure you stop by the Habro booth to check out this wonderful creations and even bid on some of these works of art that will help a wonderful foundation benefiting really deserving kids. Here's yet another Q&A this time from Yodasnews.com where Hasbro is pretty much doing whatever it can to tell us in no certain terms that Mighty Muggs are done. Here's the exchange:

YN: A lot of people were sad to hear that the Mighty Muggs will be TRU Exclusives this fall, can you give us any more information on this? We heard from e-stores and Hasbro direct dealers that MM were a great seller. With a lot of collectors and kids not able to get to TRU in all areas will these also be sold on Hasbro's Website or TRU's site? Any chance they will come back to a broader release in 2010?

H: Despite fans of the format, Mighty Muggs seemed to appeal to a small but passionate minority of the overall Star Wars collecting audience compared to all our other Star Wars sub lines. There is no chance that Mighty Muggs, at least in the current size or format, will come back as a broader or national release. It is unknown whether TRU.com will be selling Mighty Muggs, but we'll pass on the encouragement. It will not be sold through HasbroToyShop.com.

Target has put Transformers Mighty Muggs on sale for the low price of 7.99! this is the lowest price we've seen Mighty Muggs and with Starscream and Grimlock hitting retail shelves recently you might want to head down to Target to check out their selection. Rebelscum.com has put up another of their "Ask Hasbro" Q&A sessions and there happens to be a question regarding the future of the Star Wars Mighty Muggs. Here's the info:

"Rebelscum: Could you give any more details about Mighty Muggs becoming TRU Exclusives? What will this mean for future waves? If you see the line ending, will you try to pump out the highly requested Muggs like Jedi Luke, young Anakin, Darth Malak, TIE Pilot, Sandtrooper, Jawas, Galen Marek, etc?

Hasbro: After Spring (from August on), Mighty Muggs will be found exclusively at Toys 'R Us. Right now there are no plans for additional exclusive waves of Muggs beyond what has already been shown."

So, what's this mean for Mighty Muggs exactly? Well it doesn't look good that's for sure. But Hasbro would tell you that they aren't saying no or yes just that there aren't any plans for further Mighty Muggs wave at this point in time.

More Transformers Mighty Muggs Coming Soon?

Some potentially good news coming out of Toyfair Australia regarding Transformers Mighty Muggs. According to Australian website OTCA.com.au, who just returned from the show has this to report:

"Mighty Muggs will have Movie characters, which could be why the 3rd wave looked cancelled - those Gen1 figures might be pushed back until after the movie."

Then we have this tidbit from TFW2005.com from AU Toyfair:

"Also confirmed are Movie-themed Transformers Mighty Muggs. No word yet on which characters from the films will receive the Mighty Muggs treatment, although Movie Optimus Prime and Megatron are practically a given."

No pics yet but this is exciting news as it's the first sign of hope that Transformers Mighty Muggs will continue with future waves. Stay tuned for more!

A huge thank you to forum member Jal4u2c who brings us the first image of Star Wars Mighty Muggs Biker Scout from ROTJ! Thanks to the information that accompanied the image we now know that just like wave 8 before it, wave 9 will yet again be another "internet" exclusive wave not availalbe at "big box" stores. Also of note, the article also states that the other three Mighty Muggs in the wave will be "never before Mugged" characters, meaning a wave of entirely new characters. Look for the debute of the entire wave at Entertainmentearth.com on February 25th. Keep it locked here at MML for further updates!

One of our forums member has found Snowtrooper, Biggs Darklighter, Bossk, and Shocktrooper at a Target in Oregon. Here's an update to our report from yesterday from the pages of Toyfare magazine #139 and as promised, here's your first look at G.I. Joe Mighty Muggs Serpentor!

There's a great article in magazine covering Hasbro's plan for G.I. Joe for 2009 with Hasbro's global brand marketing director Michael Ritchie and here are some interesting tidbits concerning Mighty Muggs:

Toyfare: What can we expect from Mighty Muggs this year?

Ritchie: For Mighty Muggs we are going to be launching in the Springtime as we've announced , and we have plans to do most of the major characters that fans will want to collect.

Toyfare: Does the Joe team work on the Joe Mighty Muggs or is there a separate team at Hasbro that works on these styles across all licenses?

Ritchie: It's sort of a collaboration within Hasbro. Our Joe team works on everything that's Joe whether it's Mighty Muggs or Combat Heroes or puzzles or games in different isles of the store. And then you have another team who focuses on Mighty Muggs just to make sure there is consistency across the brand. Between the marketers and the designers who work on the Mighty Muggs brand as well the G.I. Joe brand we work together to make sure we've got that right expression.

It's Sunday night and San Diego Comic Con 2008 has officially come to a close. No new Mighty Muggs news today other than a small update on the MIA Mighty Muggs T shirts featuring Darth Vader and Indiana Jones. It's seems that the manufacturer who was to supply the shirts went under weeks before the show and the shirts were never made. Oh well, there's alway next year. I would like to thank and welcome all the new readership we have picked up in the last couple of days here at the Mighty Muggs Lounge, we are glad to have you!

This was the Mighty Muggs Lounge first foray into a bigger world by introducing ourselves to Hasbro and getting the Lounge a little recognition with fans and we cannot wait for upcoming shows and events to continue to spread the Mighty Muggs gospel.

SDCC 2008 Friday

Tons of new images and announcements were made at various Hasbro panels at San Diego today so please bear with me! First up, The Punisher and his arch-villain Jigsaw will be Toys R Us exclusives late 2008.

a sneak peak at some Marvel Mighty Muggs on tap for 2009 were also announced and previewed today. As you can see from the image above from our friends over at Marvelousnews.com expect to see the Vision, Ultimate Captain America, a Skrull and Iron Man in his original Avengers armor.

Now on to Star Wars Mighty Muggs, Wave 6 and a preview of wave 7 were announced and previewed. As you can see from the image which comes to us from the gang at Rebelscum.com wave 6 will consist of Hoth Han Solo, Plo Koon, Grand Moff Tarkin and Darth Vader.
A partial wave 7 was also shown with a shirtless Darth Maul and Darth Revan, both of these characters from the Expanded Universe.

On a side note, the Indiana Jones Toht, Irina Spalko and Tuxedo Indy were formally announced as wave 3. On tap for tomorrow is the Transformers presentation where we hope to learn and see a bit more information on future waves of the Transformers Mighty Muggs line.

Just got back from SDCC Preview night and we are now hard at work to bring you the latest news and images. The biggest story coming from Hasbro tonight is that we can now confirm that 2009 will bring us GI Joe and Transformers Mighty Muggs. The samples we saw tonight are NOT movie based but are cartoon based. Wave one from GI Joe will give us Duke, Snake Eyes, Cobra Commander and Stormshadow. Wave one from the Transformers license will give us Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron and Soundwave. Images will be up in our forums momentarily.
